Question by sunshine&smiles: Why is “celtic” as in Boston Celtics pronounced as an “S” instead of a “K” sound?
When we speak of Celtic people and culture, we pronounce it as “keltic.” Shouldn’t it be the same for the team?

Both pronunciations are acceptable.
The Boston team’s name is pronounced with an “s” because at the time they were named, that was the pronunciation used by most people.
There are both Greek (Keltoi) and Roman (Celtae, originally pronounced with “k” but changed to “s”) sources for the word.
Language is constantly changing.
