Q&A: Is the use of the word “Articulate” racist when coming from a Black female describing other black females?

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Question by Culture Warrior: Is the use of the word “Articulate” racist when coming from a Black female describing other black females?
Rutgers Women’s Basketball Head Coach C. Vivian Stinger described her team as “…They are young ladies of class, distinction. They are articulate, they are gifted. They are God’s representatives in every sense of the word.”

Does this seem like a racist statement? Most will say no.

President Bush describing Sen. Barak Obama as well-spoken and articulate was characterized as racist.

Does this seem equitable?

Here is a link “FROM YAHOO NEWS” about the first story.

Wait a second. I thought it was Joe Biden describing Barack Obama that got Biden in trouble.

Where were any remarks made by Bush about Obama construed as racist?

From an NFL Tryout to European Basketball Superstar to the NBA? Christian Burns Talks with ClassActSports.com

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Christian Burns

Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 26, 2010

ClassActSports.com, a haven for sports fans looking for a sports community with the latest sports news and information, has released a new article featuring one of Europe’s biggest basketball stars, Christian Burns.

Written by columnist Jordan Siegman, Burns discusses topics such as the defense being played overseas, what it’s like being a European basketball star and his chances of playing in the NBA.

At 6-foot-8 inches tall and 250 pounds, Burns has the ideal size for an NBA small forward, and as Europe has found out, he has the skills to match. He was athletic enough to try out for the Chicago Bears, and talented enough to be one of only two Division II basketball players to get a look for the 76ers 2007 summer league team after graduating from Philadelphia University.

“(My goal) is to be a top player in the league I am in, for that current year,” Burns told Class Act Sports. “But ultimately, and obviously, to be in the greatest league in the world, the NBA.”
